We are really happy to present you after the « Toulouse Swing Festival » our first « Destination Swing » with real great teachers from U.S.A, England and France
You will be able to take classes of lindy hop but also balboa, shag, taps and choreography. There will be 11 hours of classes on real good dance floors.
Two big parties with exceptionnal musicians « Tuxedo Big Band » 16 piece band with a great singer on saturday and professionnal cabaret. On Sunday 7 piece band with « Paul Cheron Septet » and open cabaret.
We hope you will really appreciate our new festival and you will really enjoy it.

The Teachers |
Rob and Diane Van Haaren : One of the most couple in world, they are really appreciated for their technic, style and fun. Rob and Diane are teaching all over the world in the best international dance camp.
Angela Andrew and Ron Leslie : Wonderful dancers, you can meet them in the best international dance camp in Europe. They teach the real « Savoy Style ».
Philo kahn : Professionnal tap dancer and teacher, he’s the tap choreographer of the show « Cotton Club ». He’s really appreciated for the quality of his classes, fun and original teaching.
Anaïs Bealu : Tap teacher in 144, she’s really appreciated for a clear and fun teaching. She puts a lot of energy on classes.
Swing Mousquetaires : This name is for the 3 French couple : Véronique and Bruno, Gilbert and Cathy, Gilles and Myriam. They introduced and developped the Lindy hop in France more than 10 years ago.
Gilles and Myriam : They introduce the lindy hop in Paris and in France for the best workshop. They used to work for T.V, and organize the biggest swing festival in France. They have a lot of succes in England. Takes for them energy and passion.
Gilbert and Cathy : They have their own dance school in Montpellier and travel all around the France and Europe for the best dance camp like Herrang dance camp in Sweeden. Excited couple, Gilbert likes to sing during the classes !!
Véronique and Bruno : They have their own dance school for 10 years and created the first lindy-hop school in France. They are teaching all over the France, Europe and U.S.A. for the best dance camp. Véronique is the choreographer of the show « Cotton Club ». Véronique and Bruno are the artistic director of the professionnal dance troup « the happy swingers » and the « Cotton Club show ». |

Bands :
Paul Chéron : In 1992 Paul Chéron leader of the band « Banana Jazz » has founded the « Tuxedo big band ». This band, from Toulouse, wants to give a second life to the biggest big band of the swing era : Jimmie Lunceford, Chick Webb, Count Basie, Benny Goodman… With these wonderful soloists the Tuxedo became quickly one of the best bands of France.
This band has a unique sound really swinging. « Paul Chéron Septet » the new band of Paul Chéron is also really fantastic. This band has just animated a TV show in Spain. This septet has a rich songbook ideal for dancers.
You will love them !
Professional cabaret :
For 10 years the 144 has received many teachers and dancers internationaly wellknown for this cabaret, but this one will be new and wonderful. Each teacher will present their favorite number of lindy, balboa or taps… The Happy Swingers will present a number of the show « A night at the Cotton Club ». Some surprises is waiting for you for this cabaret, don’t miss it !
Open cabaret :
For the first time at the 144, we are very glad to ask to any dancers who wants to « vibe » facing an audience to present a number. You will be able to present the choreography learnt during the weekend or your own number. Let us know 2 weeks before if you wants to present your number. Rehearsal the Sunday from 18h to 19h. |

Levels |
Levels : The level minimum for this workshop is level 2 for lindy hop and beginner for the other dances.
Lindy Hop
Level 2 : You dance for one year minimum or you have participated at several workshops : the basic is not enought for this level.
Level 3 : You are lindy hop dancers and takes classes for 2 or 3 years, this level is an intermediate/advance.
Level 4 : This is the advance level, you have a good connection, a good balance and dance on fast music. You can also change your rythmics, this is the good level for you.
Balboa
Beginners : You are totally beginner or you know just the basic step and few figures.
Level 2 : You dance balboa for one year and you know « throw out » « come around » and « cross over ».
Level 3 : You used to dance balboa frequently, you are confident dancing balboa and you know the suptility of this dance. Choose the right shoes and be ready to burn your soles.
Shag
Beginners : You are totally beginner or you know just the basic step and few figures.
Level 2 : You are relax when you dance the shag, but you need to learn more, you don’t have enought figures.
Level 3 : You like shag ! You are a good dancer and you can dance on fast music, this is the good level.
Taps
Beginners : You are totally beginners, it’s sure you will like.
Level 1 : That’s not the hight level, you are started practicing taps and you know the difference between « flap » and « brush ».
Level 2 : You practice taps regulary and you are really relax with your feets. Philo will work with you a choreography for the cabaret.
Choreographie
Lindy hop with Rob & Diane : that’s for the levels 4 and the best dancers of the level 3. This class will be difficult, no place for laments.
Routine with Angela : she’s the queen of routines.You will like if you have a good memory. This classe is for all the level.
Charleston with Gilles and Myriam : Have fun with them, take pleasure in this class and learn one of the craziest dances.

Rules |
1) You have to choose with precision your level and all the dance : lindy hop, balboa, shag, taps, choreography. Watch out : For the taps, you have to choose only one class.
2) You have eleven hours of courses during the week-end and the routine « Destination Swing » on Friday.
3) For the choreography you are not obliged to take part of the « open cabaret ».
4) The classes start and finish on time, thank to be present ten minutes before the class.
5) You can have meal for Saturday and Sunday lunch, but you have to order them two weeks before the festival.
6) For a good organisation, we prefer to receive the sign up before the 20th of december. After this date, you will pay 10 € extra.
7) The price includes : The routine « Destination Swing », the « buffet » of Friday evening, the dance classes (3 lindy hop courses, 1 balboa course, 1 shag course, 1 tap course, 1 choreography course), the saturday and sunday evening party.
8) Adress for the workshop : 144, rue de la Providence with 2 dance rooms and 117, rue de la Providence with 1 dance room.
9) We will give you all the information on Friday evening.
10) It’s not allowed to film the classes, but you will be able to film yourself during the break.
11) The bar is open during all the week-end for hot and fresh drink and snacks.
12) Please, for the confort of everybody thank you to take some tee-shirts with you. There are four showers in the dance school available during the whole week-end.
